After the embarkation in the afternoon in the harbour of Lyon, take time to get acquainted with your lovely floating hotel, before our cruise director invites you to a welcoming wine toast. In the evening, let our chef surprise you with a beautifully-prepared welcome dinner. Your AMADEUS vessel remains in Lyon over night.
Discover the French metropolis of Lyon during a city tour in the morning. Lyon counts among the oldest cities in France and has developed from an old Roman urban settlement into a vibrating big city. As Lyon has gained everywhere the fame of a true gourmet-centre, pay a visit to the famous hall „Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse“, where your palate can be spoiled with all kind of delicacies. This evening on board, enjoy a captivating presentation about the secrets of wine production, while your ship continues up North.
Continue to explore the wine region with a stop in the town of Chalon sur Saône. Half -timbered houses overlook the square, and it offers art galleries, specialty shops as well as a museum dedicated to photography. The countryside is filled with famous vineyards such as Pommard and Puligny, a wine lover’s delight. This afternoon enjoy the scenery as the vessel continues its way along the Saône, or perhaps choose to explore the medieval towns of Brancion and Cormatin and rejoin the vessel in Tournus.
In the morning, take the opportunity to explore the marvelous middle-aged old city of Avignon – either on your own or in a guided walking tour. Visit the famous bridge of Avignon and the monumental papal palace. Leave Avignon before lunch and travel further to Arles, the last stage of your trip. This afternoon, take part in an optional walking tour of Arles and discover the numerous monuments of the antique and Roman ages. This evening on board, the elegant Captain Dinner with wine tasting awaits you.
