Celebrate the musical legend Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, by joining us on this 7-night 'Classical Music on the Danube' sailing. This carefully curated programme features the music of Mozart along with other extraordinary musical geniuses. A select repertoire of pieces from top classical composers throughout history promises a rich music experience sure to stir powerful emotions, evoke memories and may even surprise you.  

Onboard exclusive performances, recitals in unique venues such as the Brahms Hall in Vienna or the beautiful Duna Palace in Budapest will envelop you in the world of Classical Music.

Your classical music cruise begins in Passau. Embark in the afternoon and drink a toast at the Welcome Cocktail to celebrate the commencement of your cruise, followed by a sumptuous Welcome Dinner. The first musical highlight of your trip will take place this evening in the Panorama Bar, where the inimitable Salzburg Soloists will perform for you.

Over Night

In the morning, the included excursion to Salzburg will take you to the birthplace of the one-and-only Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – probably the world’s greatest musical genius. In addition, Salzburg is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its well-preserved Baroque old town. The lovely Alpine surroundings and the Hohensalzburg Fortress overlooking the city add to the fairytale charm of the city. Your trip will include a visit to Mozart’s birthplace, where you can imbibe the atmosphere of the prodigy’s childhood home. You will enjoy another concert by the Salzburg Soloists in the Palais Neustein before returning to your ship, which will have reached the Austrian city of Linz in the meantime.

No Danube music cruise would be complete without a stop in Vienna, one of the classical music capitals of the world. You will arrive here just before noon and will have the opportunity to learn more about Mozart as you tour through Vienna “in Mozart’s footsteps.”  This optional excursion will include a visit to Vienna’s Mozart House, where Mozart once resided and which is now a museum dedicated to the master composer and his fascinating life. In the evening, you can choose to attend a concert by selected members of the Vienna Philharmonic in a Viennese Palais. Afterwards, you will return to your ship just before it departs for Budapest.

11am - 10.30pm

After a relaxed morning on board, you reach the city nicknamed “The Queen of the Danube” – otherwise known as Budapest. After lunch, you can join the city tour if you wish, which will give you the opportunity to appreciate the majestic beauty of Budapest, home to attractions such as Fisherman’s Bastion, Buda Palace, Heroes’ Square and the House of Parliament. To top it all off, the day concludes with a romantic evening cruise along the illuminated banks of the Danube and a Hungarian folklore show on board, including popular folksongs and rousing national dances.

Arrival at 2.30pm / Over Night

A visit to the Liszt Museum is on the cards as part of the included morning excursion – a must-see destination for all classical music and architecture fans. This is followed by a concert in the grandiose Festetics Palace, where the Slovak Quintet will serenade you.

In the early afternoon, you can choose to see more of Hungary by joining the excursion to Szentendre and Esztergom, two of the loveliest cities on the Danube. If you take this option, you will rejoin the ship in Esztergom in the evening.

The musical treats for the day are not over yet, however. Delight in the virtuosity of the Kudlak Philharmonic Quartet at the evening concert on board while your ship continues on its way.

Departure at 1.30pm

Bratislava awaits you today, where an included morning tour will take you to see the highlights of the city in which the Austrian Empress Maria Theresia was crowned. As part of the tour, you will visit the Clarissine Church, where The Slovak Quartet will delight you with their world-class music. After lunch, the optional, themed “Classical Bratislava” excursion will give you insight into the rich musical history of the city. In the afternoon, you will rejoin your ship, bid adieu to Bratislava and head back up the Danube toward Austria. The evening culminates with the Captain’s Gala Dinner, where fine dining, great company and a festive atmosphere come together to create a fitting end to the day.

At breakfast, your ship docks in Emmersdorf, which lies in the scenic UNESCO World Heritage Wachau region. Join the optional morning excursion to the famous Melk Abbey to see more of the beauty of this region. The Benedictine Abbey, which towers over the town of Melk, is over 900 years old and boasts a rich history in addition to its architectural beauty and scenic natural surroundings. The tour also includes a wine tasting. In the late afternoon, enjoy one final musical treat on board with a performance by the acclaimed concert pianist Martin Ivanov.

9am - 2pm

Your trip ends where it began – in Passau. After enjoying one more buffet breakfast on board, it is time to disembark. The AMADEUS team wishes you a safe journey home and looks forward to welcoming you again soon.

Your Music Expert on board: Antonella Placheta

Austrian born, Antonella Placheta studied piano at the Innsbruck Conservatory for ten years.She continued her studies at the University of Innsbruck, where she concentrated on history and philosophy. After her studies she was able to combine her love of history with her love of music and the arts. In addition to her work as a historian and organizer of various cultural events, Antonella moderates concerts and music events and is active as a state-licensed tourist guide. Since 2015, she has been the director of the women's choir "Sono". As a music and cultural expert, she accompanies travel groups and cruises throughout Europe and is happy to share her knowledge and her enthusiasm for music with our national and international guests.
